Opening night of Art Basel was a sight to be seen. My favorite moment was visiting a booth that had scribbled on their white walls with raw charcoal to create a graphic wainscot. I really loved how such a simple tool could make such a grand gesture on an interior. The fragility of this piece was especially romantic: how the impact of viewers would change and distort the original work as they smudged the walls and walked through the shavings on the floor. Most importantly, however, it illustrated how we can truly make one of a kind interiors with modest tools and a bit of creativity. This interior, that merely provided backdrop to the art that was on display, ended up being the highlight of the opening night ceremonies for me.
Check out the photos to see what I am talking about. Cool stuff!!
